Launching a Life
So the years have flown. Walking the floor wondering if this kid was ever going to go to sleep. Feverish nights, runny noses ... the bobbling attempts to learn to read ... the skinned knees ... the giggling fits ... the battles ... the tears ... the laughter ... and she's ready.
Amidst the graduation pictures and the beginning discussions of a party we were also talking and planning her next step. As strange as it may sound, as her parents, we did not counsel her to go to college. Riane is a very bright girl with a solid high school education. She is able, but we don't feel it is the wisest course of action. We counseled and encouraged her to take a year; serve in a ministry or missions field and then see where God leads next. We prayed. She applied and talked to a few of her possibilities and then the doors began to crack and finally they flung wide open.
The tickets are purchased and she is leaving in a month. She will be serving at the Institute for Basic Life Principles (IBLP) in Chicago. We have been part of their home school (ATI) for the past 6 years and really believe in their message and their work. It is an exciting opportunity and we are grateful to God for giving her this chance.
