Spring

Spring has sprung at the house of Googeg.

Colors are brightening everywhere. Out my kitchen window school is beginning to look like this:

Morning school break for the littles:

Kids are starting to learn new things

Even the animals are getting out more.

Just to make things fun, Jerome challenged the three oldest boys to move an old cement step off the driveway into the gravel to be broken up later. He did promise a little financial compensation. This was no easy task considering the step weighs 916 pounds!

The first night was not very successful.

The next morning Jerome gave clues about Egypt and pyramid building and then they were off to the races.

Ricky had to go off to a piano lesson, but these two boys soldiered on.

Success! Pouring rain, old logs, two crowbars -- yes a 15 year old and his 6 year old brother can do great things.

As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them... Psalms 127:4-5

Living Large

Life with the tribe has been quite large lately.

Miss Songbird had a birthday - SIX!

She asked for a big pink cake and she helped bake.

She really loved that large cake .. and she had a great birthday.

A large family requires large cars ....

And finally ....

A large water heater.

To load this big tank in, of course, Jerome had to turn all the water off to the house. So, I took the kids for a field trip today.

We set off for an 1880's farm. Only about an hour away and totally free it was a wonderful day.

There were chickens.

We learned that the farmer is having trouble with Coyotes getting the sheep. He tried a lot of things, but putting a donkey in with the sheep solved the problem.

We visited the original family graveyard.

And the old equipment graveyard. When farm machinery was no longer usable it was left in a convenient place and then was used for parts. Now it is fun for boys.

It really was a great day on the farm.

As for this old guy  ... he's gone and we are looking forward to living large with our new water heater!
