This is my favorite picture of "little Ricky" -- and it always moves me to tears. He had been an emergency foster placement and had been with us just a couple of months. We were allowed to take him on vacation with us, but his future was very unsure and murky. In this picture he looks as small and lost as he really was...
Look at him now. Ten years old on August 2nd. He received some great things including:
This great rocket kit from Grandma. Which turned into this:
And gave us quite a show.
Ricky's family fun birthday trip was to the Creation Museum. We absolutely love this place that proclaims the truth in such an excellent way. Of course, they have all the wonderful displays and planetarium, but along the way we read signs like this:
I really love this last one: "Adam Believed, Satan Questioned, Humanity Abandoned....."
It was a wonderful day.
Ricky was walkin' with the wise...
and riding a camel.
This door says: "The world's not safe anymore!" Some of my kids can act better than others.
The botanical gardens portion added this beautiful Japanese Garden.
The tribe liked it.
And so ends the Googeg's birthday season for 2010.
